Call for police authority members

WILTSHIRE Police Authority has launched a recruitment campaign aimed at attracting three new independent members.

Successful applicants can expect to spend at least a day each week on their police authority role in exchange for an allowance and expenses.

The new Independent members, one of whom must be a magistrate, will have the opportunity to serve a term of up to four years working alongside five existing independent members and nine local councillors.

Their role will be to hold the Chief Constable to account for the delivery of an efficient and effective police service to the people of Wiltshire.

Police authorities need to reflect the communities they serve and we want to encourage people from different backgrounds who have expertise in a wide range of fields such as performance management, business, finance, human resources or equalities.

To find out more contact Wiltshire Police Authority on 01380 734022 or visit their website at www.wiltshire-pa.gov.uk

Is'nt that what mayors are for?

How about the mayor in each town has the power to hold the top doggies in the police to account?

It works in america...
The police fear the mayors as they represent the public and our votes.

Maybe we should elect our mayors, how do they get in? I've never voted for a mayor...
