Police plea after attack on schoolboy

POLICE are appealing for witnesses after an attempted robbery on a Trowbridge schoolboy yesterday.

The 15-year-old was walking home to Staverton Marina at about 5.20pm on Friday when the incident happened.

He was approaching the bridge that runs over the canal near Lidl supermarket in Canal Road when a female on the bridge called out to him.

As he approached, two males grabbed him and one held him over the canal and demanded money from his pockets.

The schoolboy managed to elbow his attacker in the face and broke free, running off along the footpath.

He was chased for about 200 metres before the group gave up and were last seen walking across a small field towards Staverton Marina.

The boy can remember seeing another adult near the bridge who was on his mobile phone and police hope he will come forward as a witness to the attempted robbery.

The first male involved in the attack is described as white, aged 20-25, 6ft tall, skinny with short dark receding hair. He was wearing a blue Adidas cap, navy Adidas tracksuit with black Nike Air Max trainers.

The second male is thought to be in his late teens, 5ft 8in, stockier build with short spiky hair and wearing a black t-shirt.

The female was also in her late teens with shoulder length curly hair in ponytails and she was wearing a pink mini-skirt.

Anyone with information should call Pc Alex Curtis at Trowbridge Police Station on 0845 4087000.
