Society hosts Spanish musicians

A CHOIR in Melksham will be hosting two Spanish musicians later this month as part of its Spring Concert.

Melksham Choral Society will not only welcome pianist Maria Angel Garcia again, but also her sister Inmaculada too.

Inmaculada Garcia will be flying in especially from Valencia to play alongside Maria in the concert.

The virtuosos will play as a duo in the four-hands accompaniment to the choir's performance of the Love Song Walzes by Brahms.

To compliment the piece the choir will also sing Elgar's Bavarian Highlands.

The programme will also inlclude a special treat of the piano duet arrangement of the Spanish Rhapsody by Ravel played by the two sisters.

As part of its commitment to the wider community the society is supporting the Oxjam music festival, with a collection.

The music festival is run by Oxfam, in aid of its work to overcome poverty and suffering around the world.

Melksham Choral Society's musical director, Tom Worley, said: "We are very proud that our concert will be part of a national musical festival raising funds and awareness for Oxfam's essential work."

Melksham Choral Soceity is a friendly community choir that meets on Thursdays at the Rachel Fowler Centre in Melksham at 7.30pm during term time.

It welcomes tuneful singers who also have a sense of rhythm.

For more information contact Sue Carter on (01249) 730157.

The concert will be on April 26 at 7.30pm at the United Church in Melksham opposite Lloyds Bank.

Tickets are available from members and the Tourist Information Centre for £10 or £5 for under-16s.

Can't be there that night, but hope you get good support and have a good one.

If you can, publicise the event nearer the time as well.
