MELKSHAM is to get a new multi-million pound secondary school to replace the ailing buildings at the existing George Ward School.
The decision was taken at a Wiltshire County Council regulatory committee meeting yesterday.
Planning permission for the school was originally granted on December 5 but was quashed by the High Court because council officers made an administrative error and failed to include the reasons for planning approval in the original application.

The application for a replacement George Ward School with playing fields and parking areas, which will cater for around 1,350 pupils, was given planning permission by the council.
Work will not begin until the Secretary of State has decided whether or not to examine the plans.
The school will be built on land within Woolmore Farm to the south east of the town.
