A 41-YEAR-OLD man has been arrested after he was found on the roof of a shop allegedly stealing items to sell as scrap metal.
The man, from Trowbridge, was arrested shortly before 10am on Monday after police received reports of suspicious activity at the Countrywide Farmers store in Bradford Road, Melksham.
Officers recovered a quantity of cabling they believe was stolen from the site and the man is currently on bail pending further investigations.

Inspector Dave Cullop, head of policing for Melksham, said reports of scrap metal thefts were increasing due to the rising cost of metal.
He added that the police and Wiltshire Trading Standards officers were targeting businesses who handle or receive stolen property and urged anyone with information on this kind of trade to contact them.
