Thousands of A-level students are expected to call Greenwich University's clearing helpline when results come out tomorrow.

More than 100 staff, students and expert advisors will manning the phones at a special call centre in the students' union in Bathway, Woolwich.

And they are bracing themselves for an estimated 25,000 calls this month.

As part of the national clearing operation, callers will be able to check availability and entry criteria, as well as get advice on careers, student loans and accommodation.

There are still places available at the university's campuses in Maritime Greenwich, Avery Hill and Medway.

Head of recruitment and marketing Dai Hall said: "Our clearing helpline is one of the biggest operations in the country. The one-stop shop is a service for everyone who is thinking of applying."

Call the freephone helpline on 0800 005006, from 8.30am to 7pm Monday to Friday and 10am to 2pm at weekends.
