The headmaster of a Twickenham secondary school has reiterated their 'zero tolerance' drugs policy after two pupils were searched by police in front of the school gates and found to be clean.

The officers were seen searching the two 14-year-old boys who were in school uniform, outside Orleans Park School at around 9.10am last Friday morning.

A neighbour of the school had called the police alleging that he had seen the two boys smoking cannabis.

Police arrived at 9.07am and searched the two boys, but nothing was found on them.

The school takes a no tolerance view on the use of cannabis on or around the premises and the teachers present were supporting the school's stance.

A police spokesman said: "Two 14-year-old boys were stopped and searched around this time of the morning on suspicion that they had drugs. However, nothing was found on them."

Headteacher, David Talbot said: "It is the case that two pupils were searched by the police on Friday, as a result of an anonymous phone call suggesting that the boys in question were smoking something illegal on the way to the school. The police found absolutely no evidence that this was the case.

"We have a well established and clearly understood zero tolerance of drugs at this school. It is not a problem for us. We also have a thorough and very effective drugs education programme."
