Students at Harlow College produced the second best set of A-level results in the college's history, with a pass rate of 84 per cent.

There was a 100 per cent pass rate biology, media, English literature and music and music technology.

Principal David Ellerby said: "I'm very pleased with this year's results which reflect the hard work and dedication of both the students and our teaching and support staff.

"These results demonstrate our commitment to providing a learning environment in which all young people can achieve their full potential in a wide range of subjects and career areas.

Saranga Sothisrihari, from Harlow who will study medicine at Queen Mary and Westfield College in London thanked his teachers from helping him gain one A and two Bs after less impressive first year exam results.

Saranga said: "I was very chuffed when I got the results because I didn't do that well in the third year. Tonight we're going to a foam party at Millennium to celebrate."
