A Tottenham school has been presented with an award from Middlesex University for helping to train the teachers of tomorrow.

Nesta Murray of St Ann's School accepted the training partner plaque from the university's pro vice-chancellor Edgar Neufeld for offering invaluable work experience to student teachers as part of their degree programme.

During their training the students undertake a whole range of work from lesson planning and presentation to participating in parents' evenings and helping out with extra curricular activities such as school trips and clubs.

Ms Murray said: "The partnership has gone very well and has enabled us to maintain our staffing levels as students who work here tend to get jobs here after they graduate.

"The partnership has also been advantageous by helping us move forward with the curriculum as the students bring in lots of new ideas."
