Bin collection complaints continue
Melanie Keogh
Melanie Keogh

A TROWBRIDGE woman whose rubbish has been mounting up because council contractors have only been collecting once a month has highlighted ongoing problems.

West Wiltshire District Council waste collection contractor Fosca has visited only intermittently, managing to take away the rubbish on average once a month.

Residents of Hill Street Court, Trowbridge, have seen rats feeding and nesting in the bin store for their flats as the rubbish builds up.

Resident Melanie Keogh, a 22-year-old PhD Physics student, complained to the council and was initially happy to see the bin lorry turn up last week.

However they only emptied some bins and left behind the black bin bags.

She said: "We all got a letter reminding us that under Section 46 of the Environmental Protection Act, Fosca will not collect extra bags placed on top of or by the side of the bin.

"That's all very well but we can hardly be blamed for the bags by the side of the bins when our collection dates have been so irregular. It has really irritated me."

The district council is still looking into the problem and trying to find a resolution.

i am a neighbour and resident in hill street court and its a disgrace and what we are having to put up with the council " still looking into the problem and trying to find a solution" have been draggin their heals! thisproblem only occured when they changed contractors and people who live in a nearby estate are having a similar problem surely the solution would be to find new contractors or is that jsut common sense

i was witness to the bin emptying on the longfield estate last week the bin men quite happily took all the extra black bags that were left
at the side and on top of the bins why ???????????
this seems very close to the time when 2 lorries were sent to navagator close and towpath road to collect all the dumped rubbish.
all we get are stickers attached to black bags that are taken out of our bin as it won't shut properly and yes i have complained about it to the council
