Debs wins fantasy hair design
Debs Tye
Debs Tye

A TROWBRIDGE hair stylist has won an award for an extreme fantasy creation.

Deborah Tye, 40, owns the Mane Event hair salon in Wicker Hill, Trowbridge.

She entered the extreme fantasy category of the west-country regional awards run by the National Hairdressers' Federation.

In just half an hour she turned her 18-year-old model, Staverton girl Helen Jeffries, into a fantasy fairy, complete with gravity-defying hair, fake ears and outrageous costume. Ms Tye said: "A few of us from the salon entered the competition which we think is really prestigious.

"We only had 30 minutes to create out vision so there was quite a lot of pressure.

"The standard of entries was really high and I managed to win my category with Helen. She looked fantastic. I just let my imagination run wild and I had a handmade fairy costume."

For her efforts Ms Tye was awarded a diploma, medal and cheque for £80.

She has been a hairdresser for 25 years and is overjoyed to bring the award back to her salon Mane Event.
