Three charged after roof drama

THREE men were arrested on the roof of the probation service building in Trowbridge on Sunday.

Just after 11pm an armed police response team went to the building after somebody reported seeing people on the roof.

Police searched the rear of the building and found a 25-year-old local man. He was arrested on suspicion of theft.

When officers checked the roof area they found another man laying in a gully on the roof.

The man made no movement and armed police went onto the roof where they discovered that there were actually two men.

The two local men, aged 32 and 29 were arrested on suspicion of theft.

Police continued to search the area and discovered that a considerable amount of lead had been removed from the building and a quantity was recovered from bushes close to the scene of the incident.

A 25-year-old man was charged with theft and going equipped for theft and remanded into custody.

He appeared at Chippenham Magistrates Court on April 29 and was ordered to return on May 20.

A 32-year-old man and a 29-year-old were also charged with theft and going equipped and released on bail to reappear at the court on May 25.
