Affordable homes talks in village

DOES Southwick need affordable village housing for local people? That's the question being raised at talks tomorrow.

Staff from the Rural Housing Trust will be available at a drop in information session on Tuesday to talk about proposals for affordable homes in the village.

Alison Read, area programme manager for the Rural Housing Trust, said: "The village needs to provide housing opportunities for those local people who want to continue to live, work in the village and support the community.

"House prices in this area are high and some local people have already been forced to move away."

The sessions take place at St Thomas' Church, Southwick from 3-8pm.

The Trust, in partnership with Southwick Parish Council, is proposing a development of 19 affordable homes reserved for local people.

Alison Read added: "We hope local people come along to the exhibition and let us know what they think of the proposal.

"If you are a local person and would like to be considered for a home on the proposed development, come and register your details with us."

Anyone unable to attend the event but interested in commenting, or being considered for a home, should contact Alison on (01235) 861552 or email alison.read@ruralhousing.org.uk
