1930s thriller takes to the stage

A BOUNCER, a builder and a teaching assistant from west Wiltshire are taking to the stage in a disturbing thriller set in the 1930s.

Svonne Dunk, 34, who works on the door at Destination nightclub in Trowbridge; Rachael Medway, who teaches at Southwick Primary School and builder Mike Walters, 27, of Kingston Deverill, near Warminster, play powerful roles in Limelight Productions' latest show Night Must Fall.

The psychological thriller by Emlyn Williams, will be staged at the Athenaeum Centre in Warminster on May 15, 16 and 17.

The play is based in the home of the tyrannical Mrs Bramson - a wheelchair bound, self-centred hypochondriac who becomes close to Dan (Walters), a strangely vulnerable young man who lavishes attention on the widow.

This is the first acting role for doorman and mother-of-four Mrs Dunk, of Westbury Leigh, who plays the role of housemaid Dora.

She said: "Dora is quite a common trampy maid and she has connections to the character of Dan.

"I got involved through Sally (the director). She is my foster mum."

Mr Walters, who plays Dan, recently appeared on stage naked in Bath Drama Club's production of Bent'.

Mother-of-three Mrs Medway plays the role of Olivia, Mrs Bramson's niece, who's involved in a chilling and erotically-charged interplay with Dan.

The production has been directed by Sally Boyle, a Wiltshire College Performing Arts and Drama graduate, known for her work in the Starry Eyes performance group.

Tickets cost £6 and are available at the Athenaeum Box Office on (01985) 213891.
