I'm surprised this hasn't got the immortal "street value" line;
"cannabis seized with a street value of £10"
LOL, slow news day in Wilts today then....

Will it be destroyed in a controlled environment with the appropriate officers present? Officers which would be better served out on our streets and not wasting their time with this!

We should thank our lucky stars that this drug addict will no longer pose a serious threat to the good people of Westbury. There's no telling what a dope-fiend with the munchies might do. Today it's passing out playing xbox, tomorrow mass murder.

What a complete and bloody utter waste of time and police resources. Have they really not got anything better to do or is this just easier than sorting out real crime?

Why do you think the police are always "above the law" and don't know their left from right??

Oh come on Disgusted. If this drugie was near your home you'd want them searched and dealt with. I'm sure you'd slag the Police off if they just left him to it. In fact I'm sure you'd slag the police off whatever. Get a grip.

Far from it. If a guy has a sixteenth of an ounce of cannabis on him it is obviously for his own use and he's leaving me alone unlike these Stella p1ss heads who roam the street. The most harm I will get from such a dopey is probably being bored to death.
The test of any law is whether any harm is being done to the person or another person and as demonstrated time and time again the cannabis laws are hopelessly wrong as were the police in this case. I am certain that there are REAL crimes outstanding that their time would have been far better spent on. Getting cars off pavements would have been far more productive than harassing this guy over such a paltry matter.

This Matter should surely be raised with the Queen of Westbury.
Heather Queen Sheana Brolly Boy Fadwa Brussell. She will No doubt have an opinion on the matter at hand and convey this accordingly.

I suppose staying there a few nights would save a lot of travel at least so maybe he will start a new life. I have no idea whether he will commute daily but in any event he may not comment on this thread. I hope his job will work out.
I hope you are well Sally.
I do not comment on cannabis issues as its not just contraversial its also a complicated sensitive issue.

Who would want to be a Police officer...eh.
You get negative comments about never seeing one, when they are out and about and turning over people with drugs, they get negative comments.
How do people fund their drugs habits? Who do drug users associate with? Is there any intelligence that can be gained form these interactions? Do the public gain a feeling of confidence seeing real uniformed police officers patrolling their streets and doing a positive job. It seems that they beg for officers to be out and about tackling crime and then when they do take great pleasure in knocking them.......What a job....Yeah, in the words of the Home Office recruitment ad's "Could You?, more like Would You? Would You be bothered to police a fickle community.........

Can only say that I reported a theft over 12 months ago and plod did bugger all about it. Didn't even examine the crime scene yet here we have an inpector no less who has time to piddle around with some dope head for a fivers worth of puff and you think I should be grateful and call this a positive experience of policing?

I'm not a 'big fan of Cannabis' at all nor do I condone illegal drug use. I say as many do that the law on drugs is hopelessly wrong.
For one thing street drugs are heavily contaminated with all sorts of rubbish. Legalise them and that problem is solved immediately. Make Heroin availbale on prescription as it used to be and users will have no need to commit horrendous crime to get a fix. In fact being legal would alone probably be enough to make drugs go out of fashion.
As for an inspector spending so much time on the equivalent or far less of a parking ticket I can only repeat 'have they not got anything better to do?' He could be looking for those 2 animals who burgled the 80+ year olds.

I must say that paying 53k a year for a chief inspector to go around town cautioning youngsters for having five pounds worth of soft drugs on them does seem a tad expensive.

Semantics... OK then an acting inspector. Still gross overuse and waste of his position which could have been far better spent elsewhere. Let's face it the offenders Mummy could have done the same job.
