A VILLAGE fete committee had everyone fooled on April 1 when they announced that a £180,000 permanent ice rink was due to be built.
The committee in Bratton, near Westbury, publicised that ITV and the British Ice Skating Authority had offered the money, which was dependent on episodes of Dancing On Ice being filmed at the new rink.
Committee member Dave Waller said: "This was a promotional idea to attract more people to the our fete meetings, which are held on the first Tuesday of every month at The Duke at 8pm."

The fete will be held on the village green on Saturday July 12.
The committee has also planned a cricket tournament for Sunday April 27 and a music festival at the recreation ground on Saturday July 5. A fun casino night and quiz are also being organised for July.
