A 41-YEAR-OLD man accused of attempted robbery at a betting shop in Westbury last month has appeared before magistrates.
Ian Thomas, who lives in a caravan in Longbridge Deverill near Warminster, appeared at Chippenham magistrates' court on Thursday for a preliminary hearing. The case was committed to Swindon Crown Court.
Thomas is accused of entering the betting shop in Maristow Street and threatening the manager with a baseball bat with the intention of robbery.

He was released on bail with a number of bail conditions including not going to Westbury Racing or contacting directly or indirectly any employee at the betting shop.
He must also report to Melksham police station on Thursday, the day before his crown court hearing.
