Janek Schaefer, one of the UK's most compelling sound artists, performs at the University of Bath's ICIA Arts Theatre on Saturday night.

An internationally acclaimed sonic artist, Janek Schafer's performance is the second event this autumn to be held as part of ICIA's new experimental music strand, following the sold-out performance of re:sounds on November 2.

The event includes a short talk and presentation by Janek about his work followed by a live performance.

Janek Schaefer's bold, beautiful compositions have earned him a worldwide reputation Using a hybrid of analogue and digital techniques, Janek's cult status rests on his trademark adapted tri-arm turntable.

Weaving live vinyl with found sounds, he creates intimate hypnotic and exhilarating soundscapes. These immersive, involving environments dissolve the boundary between musician and listener, artist and spectator.

The Tri-phonic Turntable (1997) is listed in the Guinness Book of Records as the World's Most Versatile Record Player.

Janek, who has his own record label, audiOh!-Recordings has performed, lectured and exhibited widely throughout Europe, USA/Canada, Japan, and Australia.
