Stunning art work and photography created by A-level students went on display at The Corsham School last week.
The visual arts college has achieved some of the best A-level results in photography in the whole country for the past three years and this year’s students have showcased their talents at the exhibition, which was open to parents on Thursday evening.
Head of photography Trina Shillaker was proud to present the exhibition, which celebrates the students' high A-level results in both art and photography.
She said: “The exhibition went really well with between 150 and 200 people turning up to see the work of our Year 13 students who have just finished school.
“In the past three years we have had students in the top five results of the whole country – we will have to wait until the results are out in August to find out how the students of 2009 have done.
“A student called Josh Hovey, who has received the highest results at the school this year, has created some amazing work.
“He is in the Seychelles at the moment on a 10-week conservation trip, scuba diving and photographing the ocean, so he was unable to attend the art show.
“I think his photography is amazing and way beyond what you would expect an A-level student to produce.”
The students’ work is now being displayed at The Pound Arts Centre along with work from three other secondary schools.
The exhibition, which started yesterday, will run throughout the summer holidays until August 29 with more than 30 pieces of art and photography from The Corsham School, Sheldon School,in Chippenham, John Bentley School in Calne and Malmesbury School.
