Dancers perform sun ceremony
The dancers at Stonehenge
The dancers at Stonehenge

MAYAN dancers hosted a traditional sun ceremony at the Neolithic Stonehenge monument yesterday morning.

Mayan cultural group Hamba'kan performed at the stone circle as part of the Salisbury International Arts Festival, and will be there again at 8pm tonight.

The Mayan race is renowned for its astrological systems, fantastical art and ceremonial architecture.

The Ceremony of the Sun is deemed as the most important in the Mayan calendar.

The Hamba'kan group are descendants of the oldest of the Mayan tribes from the Yucatan state.
