Duo bounce to national final places
TRAMPOLINING: Evolution club members Fiona Easton and Alex Bedford travelled to South Shields to compete in the last grade one national competition of the season.
Fiona competed in the under 15 girls' category and, after the best set routine that she had performed all season, she was ready to tackle her voluntary routine, and scored a massive 1.5 more than she needed to retain her status and 0.5 more than she needed to qualify for the national finals in Birmingham in July
She finished 12th, her best placing ever at a grade 1 event.
Alex's first round routine was also the best of the season, putting him in sixth place overall and retention of his status in easy sight.
He stormed through his voluntary routine to qualify for the national finals alongside Fiona.
As an added bonus, after the second round he had pulled his placing up to fourth in the final.
The final was a tense event with everyone very close and after a slight mistake in his final routine Alex ended up fifth, a fantastic achievement for the youngster who missed some of the season with a broken foot.
Head coach Sarah Hunt said: "To have two competitors go to grade 1 national finals is fantastic and we look forward to seeing them compete to the best of their ability."
