RUGBY: Corsham 40 Oakmeadians 7
9:30am Wednesday 24th October 2012 in Sport
FULL-BACK Pete Hynes scored four tries as Corsham blitzed their visitors at Lacock Road.
With the match also a cup double-header, Dan Jeffries’ men moved into the semi finals of the Dorset & Wilts 1st XV Cup with a dominant performance.
With centres Karl Brant and Dave Finlay prominent, Corsham eventually opened the scoring after the opening quarter, Hynes going over from 50 metres and fly-half Andy Williamson converting.
Oakmeadians immediately responded with a converted try but Corsham got things moving again as prop Alex Twingg combined with hooker Wes Newson, who went under the posts, Williamson adding the extras.
Debutant Josh Partridge was introduced in the second half, adding zest to Corsham’s play and Hynes completed his hat-trick with two more scores.
With Oaks down to 14 because of a sin-binning, Corsham’s replacement scrum-half Will Chivers went over after an outrageous dummy, Williamson converting.
Flanker Lewis Jones’ break and pass to Hynes for his fourth score rounded off the scoring.
