RUGBY: Oakmedians 2nd 20 Westbury 18

DESPITE travelling with the bare 15 players, Westbury were only defeated in their Dorset & Wilts One South clash when Nigel Kershaw’s late conversion drifted wide.

The visitors found themselves 10 points down after 17 minutes but at the midway point of the first half, Kershaw booted a penalty to get his side on the board.

On the 20 minute mark Nigel Kershaw stepped up to kick a penalty and take the score to 10-3 and, minutes later, centre Nathan Brown intercepted the ball deep in Westburys own half and outpaced the Oaks defence to score under the posts, converted by Kershaw.

The second half started slowly again for Westbury and they conceded two tries, Kershaw kicking another penalty to reduce arrears.

Westbury then piled the pressure on but lost prop Chris Pearce to injury, leaving them with only 14 men.

They continued to attack and threw themselves a lifeline when veteran number eight Gareth Vaughan sent wing Aaron Vaughan in at the corner, the conversion proving just too much for Kershaw.
