CHIPPENHAM SUNDAY LEAGUE DIVISION FOUR PREVIEW: Pig & Whistle bid for a share of top spot

WITH current Division Four leaders Old Road FC without a game this weekend they could be joined at the top of the table if Pig & Whistle United B can take maximum points from their home clash with bottom of the table Worton & Cheverell (Sunday).

The formbook suggests a fifth win of the season for Adrian Skinner’s hosts but with Worton’s only win to date coming against leaders Old Road United, they won’t be taking things for granted.

Both FC United of Chippenham and Trowbridge Rangers (Sunday) started their league campaign with back-to-back wins but since then have lost four and five on the spin respectively.

This game with give each camp the opportunity to get back to winning but and on current form it is hard to select a winner.

Melksham Cosmos go into their game at Goatacre against Crossblades having won, drawn and lost two of their six matches to date so the Blades won’t know what Cosmos side they will be up against.

On paper, Cosmos may just have the edge, however this is another game that may end in a draw.

Sportzcoach Dragonz United may have dropped their first points of the season last weekend after their 3-3 stalemate with Melksham Cosmos, but Joe Hargreaves' side should see an instant return to winning ways when they visit Oakhill FC.

However the hosts shouldn’t be written off especially after taking a point from Pig & Whistle last weekend, although on this occasion the points are likely to be heading back to Melksham.

FC North Wiltshire are starting to live up to their billing as title favourites, after an early-season loss to Pig & Whistle United B they have now won three on the bounce and with a trip to Trowbridge Town Supporters Club next up they will confident of picking up maximum points for a fifth time, especially as they beat their hosts 6-2 the last time they met.

Prior to that the supporters’ were victorious but thanks to what appears to be greater firepower on the goalscoring front, North Wilts should emerge triumphant from this game.
