RUGBY: Trowbridge 24 Weymouth 22

TROWBRIDGE were fortunate to edge a see-saw encounter as Weymouth missed a late conversion attempt that would have tied the contest.

The Wiltshire side took the lead when Sean Jones slipped the ball to Sam Edwards, who raced down the touchline to score in the corner.

Weymouth reduced arrears with a penalty by fly-half Nick Sheppard before Trowbridge took command via further tries from Sean Jones and Ashley Chalk, one converted by Lloyd Davis, giving the hosts a 17-3 advantage at the break.

Trowbridge made numerous errors in the second half, allowing Weymouth back into the game through Joel Wilson and Will Quick tries.

The Trowbridge pack responded magnificently and the pressure told when prop Sam Edwards forced his way over for a try, converted by Lloyd Davis, to restore the Trowbridge lead.

There was still time for the home team to test the nerves of their supporters as they conceded another sloppy try to Joel Wilson, but the crucial kick was missed.

TROWBRIDGE under 14s won a tight encounter with North Dorset, shading the game 32-25.

There were three tries from Adam Gordon with one apiece for Harvey Amey and George Gerrish. Sam Gibbons knocked over two conversions and Will Thompson weighed in with a penalty.
