THE MEN’S Area 30 national championship competitions are reaching the quarter-finals stage and are due to be played by Sunday (December 23).

In the singles Russell Francis (Clarrie Dunbar) has to play Steve Snook (North Wilts) while Andy Colebrooke (Clarrie) faces Mark Wood (Clevedon).

And in the bottom half of the draw Graham Shadwell meets Clarrie team mate John Freeman with Bristol’s Barry Barry, who beat Billy McCay (NW) 21-18, awaiting the winner.

Steve Wiltshire and partner (CD) meet Clevedon’s John Hick in a pairs quarter-final while Duncan McGovern (CD) will play Bristol’s Paul Bryant in another.

Three triples teams are still running from this part of country with Keith Bailey and Steve Wiltshire due to meet in an all-Clarrie Dunbar quarter-final while Andy Moore (Christie Miller) awaits the victors having despatched Terry Barnes’ trio from Bristol 20-10.

Two of the fours quarter-finals have been played and both went to a last end with Wayne Snook skipping his rink to an 18-17 win over Nick Pearce (Clevedon) and Andy Moore a 22-21 win over Clarrie’s Steve Wiltshire. Keith Bailey has yet to play Terry Barnes.
