CHIPPENHAM SUNDAY LEAGUE DIVISION FOUR: Gray day for Oakhill as North Wilts win again

AS EXPECTED, Fourth Division leaders FC North Wiltshire kept their grip on the number one spot.

For a second time this season they were in the goals against a Oakhill FC side who they had already beaten 10-2.

The pole sitters followed that win from back in November with a 7-2 success and once again it was Dan Deacon and Simon Gray who did most of the damage as North Wilts as they claimed win number 10 of the season.

Gray started the ball rolling for North Wilts and his second of the morning made it 2-0.

Dan Deacon who scored a six timer the last time the teams met got his name on the scoresheet and a second from the hot shot gave the leaders a 4-0 half time lead.

Jason Brooks-Stevens added number five before Tom Webb pulled a goal back for Oakhill.

James Lyon scored a sixth and Simon Gray completed the scoring with his third and North Wilts seventh of the morning but not before Oakhill had netted their second which came via a second for Tom Webb.

Old Road FC 3 Sportzcoach Dragonz United 1

WITH Stanley Park unplayable both Sportzcoach Dragonz United and Old Road FC are to be commended for switching their top of the table clash to the latter’s base at Langley Burrell where a 3-1 win for the home side saw them consolidate their spot in second place.

Old Road knew that they couldn’t afford to lose against the side who were below them in the standings and although there is a long way to go until the medals are handed out Andy Rose and his players have a good chance of finishing in the top two.

Scott Austin, who came of the bench to hit a late equaliser against leaders FC North Wiltshire last weekend, was given a start against Sportzcoach and the decision proved right as it was Austin who gave Old Road the lead.

A breathtaking strike from Jacob O’Keeffe who beat the keeper with a lob from 45 yards to give his team a two-goal advantage at the break.

Sportzcoach got themselves back in the game early in the second half through a well taken effort from Mark Bowsher, but his goal proved to be just a consolation as Adam Foskett sealed victory for Old Road when he curled home a tremendous free kick from 25 yards out.
