CHIPPENHAM SUNDAY LEAGUE PREMIER DIVISION PREVIEW: Social look to extend lead at the summit

WITH  only two Premier Division matches beating the elements in January and with just five S.K. Fruits Limited Chippenham Sunday League top flight fixtures played since the end of November, teams will be hoping that February will bring a change of fortunes.

There may only be seven teams remaining in the division and there is plenty of time for them to complete their league programme, but a couple of teams are lagging behind with their fixtures.

One of those sides is FC Colerne, who will be hoping for a return to action this weekend when they host champions Biddestone Social.

Colerne made a great start to the campaign, but lost points following the withdrawal of AFC Calne and have not really recovered.

But they will be hoping for a good result ahead of their WG Parr Trophy semi-final showdown with Biddestone White Horse a week later.

The formbook suggests a win for Biddestone, however Colerne if they are on song could just nick a point from a game that they will go into as underdogs.

AFC Melksham kicked off the season with a 4-1 win at Bug & Spider and Mike Rogers would love to complete a double over Marcus Lovesey’s side when they lock horns at Christie Miller this weekend.

Honours were shared last term with one win apiece and that could be the same this season as Bug have come into form and will be out to avenge their earlier defeat.
