RUGBY: Webber is thrilled to pitch in

ROB Webber feels he is finally pulling his weight after a much-delayed start to his Bath career.

The 26-year-old made his return in the LV= Cup triumph over Exeter two weeks ago and featured in last weekend’s win at Gloucester after nearly a year out because of a shoulder injury.

It meant a long wait for a debut for his new club after his summer move from Premiership rivals Wasps. The hooker (pictured), part of England’s Six Nations squad this time last year, is determined to make up for lost time.

“I didn’t get the start I wanted, coming down to Bath with the injury so it’s great to be contributing and pulling my weight,’’ said Webber.

“It’s quite a lonely existence being injured. It is a test, but one that I hope has made me a slightly better player because I’ve learned to deal with these bumps and that everything is not always going to be perfect.

“I’ve been delighted I can get back on the pitch and contribute to the club.

“It’s great to come back into a winning team. I think we’re playing some good rugby. We’re finding a good balance in the way we want to play.”

Tickets remain on sale for tomorrow’s match and the visit of London Irish next Saturday (2.15pm). Call 0844 448 1865.
