CHIPPENHAM SUNDAY LEAGUE DIVISION FOUR PREVIEW: Dragonz out to close gap on top two
4:00pm Friday 8th February 2013 in Sport
WITH both FC North Wiltshire and Old Road in Subsidiary Cup action, Sportzcoach Dragonz United, currently third in Division Four, will be looking to keep their own promotion hopes alive with a victory at Pig & Whistle United B.
Dragonz beat United 5-2 when the sides last met but they have not won in three to derail their title hopes.
However a victory over Adrian Skinner’s side out to get their challenge for a top two finish back on track.
Melksham Cosmos and FC United of Chippenham are separated by a couple of places, but Cosmos hold a five-point lead over their rivals.
United won the reverse fixture 5-3 in early September but have only managed two more wins since then, while Cosmos won two of their last four and this result hard too call as both sides look to be evenly matched.
However, Cosmos may just have it in them avenge their earlier defeat.
The bottom two sides go head to head at Whaddon Lane, Hilperton as Trowbridge Rangers host Oakhill.
Rangers, who won their opening two games, have won just once in the following nine games and that was last time out against Crossblades at the start of the year.
Michael Goddard’s hosts beat their guests 3-1 in the reverse fixture and will see this as a fixture as once they can win especially as Oakhill are winless in five.
Trowbridge Town Supporters Club, who have not played since early December, will hope to add to a four-match winning run when they visit Worton & Cheverell (Sunday), who themselves have played just twice two months.
Kevin Williams visitors had been quietly going about their business until the weather stopped their progress will be favourites for victory.
But Worton could upset the odds as they have beaten high-flying Old Road twice and will fancy their own chances of claiming the scalp of another of the fancied sides.
