FOR THE first time this season, the cup competitions in the Chippenham Sunday League suffered a real setback at the hands of the weather as heavy overnight rain led to the postponement of the first of the Westernsport Trophies-sponsored WG Parr Trophy semi-finals.

First Division leaders Bradford Renegades and Division Three basement side Cavalier will try again at a later date to play the game and by then the victors should know whether it will be FC Colerne or Biddestone White Horse who they will face in April’s final.

Second Division White Horse FC and cup favourites Biddestone Social will have to try for a third time to complete the semi-final line up of this season's press toprint-sponsored Eric Hughes Memorial Knockout Cup.

Both teams tried in vain to get the fixture, which was due to be played at Leighton Sports Ground played, with the hosts pitch waterlogged a switch to Yatton Road looked on until the weather intervened.

Along with the League’s own cup competitions, FC Jager’s delayed Wiltshire Sunday Cup quarter-final clash away at Swindon League outfit New Century WMC was also a casualty of the elements.

For both sides it will hopefully be third time lucky this coming Sunday as they try again to complete a semi-final where the victors will play AFC Melksham.
