CHIPPENHAM SUNDAY LEAGUE SUBSIDIARY CUP PREVIEW: Ashton aim to deliver Prestige body blow

STEEPLE Ashton Rangers will finish top of the Subsidiary Cup Group D table if they can beat Prestige Bodyworks for a second successive week.

Ashton, who beat Prestige 5-3 last Sunday, know that they will qualify for the last four if they can get the better of their first division stablemates again.

This is a must-win game for both sides, but more so Prestige as they look to keep their hopes of qualify for the knockout stage alive.

Another close game is predicted but Ashton may just have it in them to takes the spoils with back to back wins.

After running top-flight Biddestone Social very close last weekend, Old Road will look forward to the visit of table topping fourth-division rivals FC North Wiltshire for their Group A, encounter.

The teams will meet at Langley Burrell, playing for pride rather than a place in the last four, as they know that Biddestone are odds-on to finish top of the group.

With the teams evenly matched, the result should be close and has a good chance of finishing with the spoils being shared.

Group B, which has been dubbed the group of death, is so far living up to that billing.

AFC Melksham, who suffered a loss in their opening game against Corsham Park Rangers will look to getting their challenge back on track when they host first division Corsham United in what is massive tie for both teams.

United top the table after last week's win over Corsham Park, but for them to stay there they will need to be at their best as Mike Rogers' hosts are tipped to win this one to leave the group wide open.

Knockout cup semi-finalists Bug & Spider top Group C and should they beat local rivals Talbot FC for a second time then they should go on to win the group.

Top-flight Bug beat their third division opponents 7-2 a week ago and although the score in the reverse fixture is expected to be a lot closer it is Marcus Lovesey’s side who are tipped claim bragging rights for a second successive week.
