CHIPPENHAM SUNDAY LEAGUE DIVISION FOUR PREVIEW: Top sides face showdown at Stanley Park
3:30pm Friday 15th March 2013 in Sport
THE Division Four title may not be decided this weekend but the outcome of the game at Stanley Park between Sportzcoach Dragonz United, who are currently second, and leaders FC North Wiltshire could go some way to determining who will finish where.
North Wilts, who are unbeaten in nine, won the reverse fixture 4-2 and they will be slight favourites to claim the points for a second time which would put them in pole position to become champions.
With Sportzcoach on a four-match winning run the game and needing to win the game could be a classic and has every chance of finishing in a draw.
Chippenham-based rivals Old Road and Oakhill are set to meet at Langley Burrell.
Old Road, who are in third place would love to claim the bragging rights over their rivals, but the most important thing for Andy Rose side is that they don’t any points against the side at the bottom of the table.
A win is a must for Old Road to maintain any hopes of a top two finish and if things go to form then the points should be theirs.
Trowbridge Rangers (Sunday) saw their mini-revival come to an abrupt end with a defeat at Melksham Cosmos last weekend.
Rangers will look to get back to winning ways when they host FC United of Chippenham, but that might be easier said than done as the visitors to Whaddon Lane won the reverse fixture 6-0 and will be out to pick up only their fifth win of the season.
However, on this occasion, Michael Goddard’s side ought to avenge that defeat.
Trowbridge Town Supporters Club suffered a 2-1 loss at Melksham Cosmos on the opening day of the season and although Cosmos will fancy their chances of beating Kevin Williams' side for a second time, the supporters’ club will prove harder to beat second time around.
They are looking to get back in the promotion race after defeat in two of their last three games.
The formbook suggests a win for the supporters’ but Cosmos shouldn’t be written off and they may get at least a point for their efforts.
Crossblades are having a superb season and Tim Chilton’s side, who have lost just one of their last nine games, will be up for their trip to Worton & Cheverell (Sunday) who they have yet to face this term.
Although the table would hint a win for the visitors to Sandfield, a shock could be on the cards as Chris Cole’s Worton side have a knack of upsetting the odds when they are written off.
