STRIKER Lewis Powell has reportedly turned down the chance to return to Chippenham Town from Evo-Stik League Southern Premier Division rivals Frome Town.
Powell, who left Chippenham at the end of last season, was the subject of a seven-day approach by his former side last week, Frome responding with an approach for current Bluebirds striker Alan Griffin a day later.
Town boss Nathan Rudge revealed 12-goal Griffin had turned down the opportunity to join Frome, bossed by Chippenham manager Darren Perrin, and it now appears as though Powell has spurned the Wiltshire side's advances.
A statement on Frome's website said: "Striker Lewis Powell turned down the chance of a return to Chippenham Town after the Wiltshire Club submitted a notice of approach last week.
"Powell, who is returning from injury, is hopeful of making a return to the Robins squad for next Saturday’s (March 23) visit of in-form Gosport Borough
Powell is the Robins' top-scorer with 11 strikes so far this term.
The 23-year-old, who hit 26 league goals for Chippenham in the 2009-2010 season and broke his leg at Hardenhuish Park in January 2012, left the Bluebirds last summer.
