CHIPPENHAM SUNDAY LEAGUE SUBSIDIARY CUP: Talbot trounce United to top Group C

THIRD Division Talbot moved to the top of the Subsidiary Cup Group C table, but their 10-4 win over fourth division Pig & Whistle United B is likely to count for nothing.

Bug & Spider, who are favourites to win the group, still have to play United twice and should progress to the last four.

Talbot who opened their campaign with an 8-1 win over Pig & Whistle were 5-1 up at the break, Dean Fry helping himself to a first-half hat-trick, Jamie Van-Crump and Alex Wells adding the others.

Jake Goldsworthy replied for Adie Skinner’s men.

The second half saw Van-Crump bag himself two more to complete his hat-trick.

Laurence Brill, Pete Thornton, Alex Wells and a fourth of the game from Dean Fry made up Talbot’s 10.

A second from Goldsworthy plus singles for Dan Goldsworthy and Ian Johnson made the scoreline look a little more respectable for the losers.

The Group D match scheduled for St Mary’s between group Steeple Ashton Rangers and Kings Arms (All Cannings) which should have been the final match of the group was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.
