CHIPPENHAM SUNDAY LEAGUE DIVISION ONE: Jordan fires Renegades to the title

BRADFORD Renegades' 4-3 success at home to FC Boroughs means that with four games still to play, Lance Davis' side know they are the Division One champions.

They can look forward to adding a second piece of silverware to their trophy cabinet if they can beat FC Colerne in April’s WG Parr Trophy final.

Renegades, who fell behind to a Jake Fortune goal, got themselves level through Sam Jordan.

A second from Jordan this time from the penalty spot put Renegades 2-1 up and two more goals from Jordan took his tally for the game to four and the season to date to 78.

But had it not been for keeper Darren Phoenix, who had a sublime first half, Renegades could have been three or four down before Jordan netted his first of the game.

Boroughs were forced into a change at half time with the evergreen Wayne Kibble replacing the injured Sam Parker and the switch saw an improved second-half performance from the visitors, Krystian Hext reducing the arrears.

With time running out Kevin Bridgeman scored a third for Boroughs, but it was too little, too late as Renegades saw out the remainder of the game to claim the two points they needed to clinch the title.

Biddestone White Horse 4 Corsham United 2

BIDDESTONE White Horse ended a four-match winless run with a 4-2 success at home to Corsham United, whose latest defeat means that they have not won in four.

Yet despite their loss of form, they remain in with a chance of finishing as runners up to Bradford Renegades.

Dan King was the undoing of Corsham. King scored and had an assist in the other two as Biddestone followed up their 3-1 success from earlier in the season with another comfortable win.

King saw his opener cancelled out by Jamie Murphy who managed to get Corsham on level terms before half time.

After the break, a second from King regained the lead for Biddestone, before an error from keeper Joe King who made a hash of a back pass allowed Murphy in to score his second of the morning to square things up at two apiece.

King then won the header that led to Ed Jones put Biddestone back in front at 3-2.

With 10 minutes remaining, Biddestone wrapped up their win, a King free kick pick out Joe Lye who fired home for 4-2.
