RUGBY: Bath duo extend deals as Stringer stays on
2:08pm Tuesday 19th March 2013 in Sport
ENGLAND internationals Dave Attwood and David Wilson have extended their contracts with Bath.
Two-times capped Attwood has been one of the mainstays of the Bath pack this season, while Wilson was named in every England squad for this season's Six Nations Championship, coming off the bench in Saturday's 30-3 defeat by Wales in Cardiff.
Attwood said: "I am very happy to have extended my contract with the club.
"The opportunity to be coached by this team in this environment means that I don't want to be anywhere else.
"We are on a journey, and we all believe that we will get to the top in time. I'm extremely excited to be a part of it."
Wilson added: "Bath has become home for me now and I love the club.
"Everything a professional needs to excel is here – from coaching to facilities – and I feel very excited to be at a club that has so much support and ambition. I wouldn't be anywhere else."
Head coach Gary Gold said: "These boys are the players around whom you can build a squad.
"They are young, English, talented and extremely tough. That they were both so keen to be involved in what we are working towards here at Bath is a real endorsement of the culture we are looking to create.
"We are very pleased to have retained their services."
Bath have also extended the loan of 98-times capped Irish scrum half Peter Stringer until the end of the season.
Stringer arrived from Munster as short-term cover for the injured Michael Claassens, scoring two tries on his debut off the bench against Exeter in the LV= Cup.
Gold said: "Strings has been superb since he arrived, both on the field and off it.
"He prepares himself exceptionally well, and knows the game as well as anybody.
"We are delighted to have retained a man of his experience; his influence will not only help the first team, but the aspiring professionals too."
Bath are offering a two wickets for £40 offer for the home Premiership clash with London Welsh - their penultimate home game - on Saturday, March 30 (2.15pm).
This offer is restricted to bronze and blue areas of the Rec only. Group and family tickets can be booked online, however the offer of two tickets for £40 is not and can be booked over the phone on 0844 448 1865 or in person at the Ticket Office on Pulteney Bridge.
