- Dan Barnes reports from the Spencer Stadium
Bluebirds boss Nathan Rudge on today's 2-0 defeat at Banbury United: "At the end of the day, you've got to give 100 per cent commitment and today, we didn't. They scored a freak goal and to go and let another one so soon after that is poor.
"We were poor and a lot of people have got to look at their individual performances. Luckily there's another game on Tuesday."
Thanks for following BluebirdsLive this afternoon. We'll return next Tuesday when Chippenham Town take on Poole Town at Hardenhuish Park
Plenty for the Bluebirds to work on ahead of Tuesday night's home game against Poole Town
Not the start to the season Chippenham Town would have wanted.
They faced an uphill struggle with Greg Tindle suspended and Aaron Tillson going off injured early in the first half. Two quick goals from Banbury knocked the stuffing out of the Bluebirds and they struggled to get their rhythm back from there
BANBURY UNITED 2 CHIPPENHAM TOWN 0
Chaos in the Bluebirds defence! John comes rushing out of his goal to challenge Simpson, misses the ball, but Iain Harvey makes a great last-ditch challenge. Banbury's Bernard Nikansah has a first time shot on the rebound but John, who's still outside of his area, blocks with his feet
Banbury go close to netting a third. Scott Bridge's smart ball picks out Evangelinos, who volleys across the face of goal
Two minutes of normal time remaining. The Bluebirds have toiled but just not been able to create the oppotunities to hit back
Reid holds the ball up well and plays in Purnell, who in turn sets up Guthrie to deliver into the box but his cross is held by McNamara
Guthrie fouls Cray and Banbury's Mbamarah comes charging over to get in the Chippenham man's face. Surprisingly, the referee chooses not to hand out any yellow cards, despite the handbags
Tippins fires a great cross into the area and Chippenham are up in arms claiming for a penalty for handball but refereee Barry is unmoved
Chippenham need something to happen fast if they want to get back in to this game. Around 15 minutes to go
A goalmouth scramble following a Banbury corner sees Mbamarah strike towards goal but his close-range effort is blocked
The wind strikes again. Jack Allward goes to control and long ball and sees it slice straight into the path of Nic Evangelinos, with the Banbury man's shot skewing skywards
A bit more handbags now involving James Guthrie and Banbury's Luke Cray
Purnell whips in a free-kick, that arrows towards the top corner, but Banbury goalie McNamara punches well under pressure from Griffin
Reid gets in from the off and pulls the ball back for Purnell but he just can't get his shot away
SUBSTITUTIONS FOR CHIPPENHAM: James Guthrie and Isaac Reid come on for Lee Phillips and Tom Knighton
United's Scott Bridges tries a snapshot from ranges but that's well off-target
Banbury's Aaron Morgan has two strikes on goal, both charged down by the Bluebirds defence
Ben John isn't happy with the way Simpson goes for a 50/50 ball and has a few choice words for the Banbury striker. Chippenham are under a little bit of pressure at the moment
A Banbury corner comes in and the big striker Simpson gets his head on it, with the ball looping high and wide but dinking off the crossbar on its way out
Banbury threaten from the off. Talabi crosses for Nic Evangelinos, who volleys off -target
The second half is underway
Chippenham are back out for the second half. A big effort needed here to haul themselves back into this game
Almost out of nowhere, the Bluebirds find themselves two goals down.
BANBURY UNITED 2 CHIPPENHAM TOWN 0
Where did that come from? All of a sudden, Chippenham have a mountain to climb
Bluebirds shellshocked. Leon Simpson collects a ball into the area and has time and space to slot home number two. Banbury score twice in a minute
BANBURY UNITED 2 CHIPPENHAM TOWN 0
The wind this afternoon is unforgiving and it plays a huge part in Banbury's opening goal in the 43rd minute. The United striker latches on to a smart pass on the left wing and his cross into the box swerves wickedly, looping over the head of Ben John and into the right of the net
BANBURY UNITED 1 CHIPPENHAM TOWN 0
Griffin heads a McClennan corner back into the danger area but the hosts eventually clear their line, thanks to the Bluebirds striker being penalised for a challenge in the air
McClennan ghosts past defender John Mbamarah but his cross is cleared
Mitch Tippins has a striking chance on the rebound but powers his strike well wide of the target under pressure
Now the Bluebirds hit the post! McClennan's corner is headed on by Phillips and the Banbury goalie gets the faintest of touches as the ball loops up on to the upright
Knighton and Phillips play a one-two in the box, with the latter getting a shot away, but that's easy for keeper Ben McNamara
Fortunately, he looks fine to continue
Purnell is down now after taking a strike to the face
Banbury hit the post! Kyal McNulty drops the shoulder and leaves two Chippenham defenders for dead before cutting in from the left flank and smacking a shot goalwards, which crashes against the upright before bouncing clear
That free-kick results in a superb delivery from Jack Allward but it's just over the head of Harley Purnell at the back post
Ironic cheering from the travelling Bluebirds support as they finally win a free-kick
Griffin almost scores with his first chance! The striker collects a ball over the top of the Banbury defence but just can't get a clean strike on the ball as the chance goes begging!
SUBSTITUTION: Jordan Tillson is replaced by Alan Griffin
Tillson looks like he has a nasty cut and will have to be substituted. Alan Griffin comes on and goes up front, with Iain Harvey moving back to the heart of the defence and Tom Knighton moving on to the left wing
Chippenham's Tillson is down after taking a whack to the face as he challenged in the air. The Bluebirds defender is currently receiving treatment. There's been little of the way of goalscoring chances as of yet. Tom Knighton has been flagged offside on a number of occasions
Referee Shaun Barry is letting a lot of niggly challenges go unpunished
Banbury's Simpson gets a strong head on the ball in a dangerous position but Harris clears well
It's been a lof of huffing and puffing in the early stages. Banbury striker Leon Simpson is a giant and will serve up a big physical challenge for Bluebirds centre-halves Jordan Tillson and Adie Harris today
And we're finally underway at Banbury. Chippenham kicking from left-to-right in the first half

Stand by for a badly-taken photo of the Bluebirds in their new lime green away kit
The two teams are out
It looks like we're set for a late kick-off here. Start as you mean to go on!
It's three minutes til kick-off and Banbury are still out having their team photo taken. That's for the third time as their goalkeeper wasn't ready!
Hosts Banbury have emerged from the tunnel on their own but there's nothing untoward - they're taking a team photo
With the triple signing of Joe Tumulty, Mitch Tippins and Isaac Reid, the Bluebirds squad suddenly has a bit more beef to it. Can Nathan Rudge's men kick off with all three points today?
Chippenham haven't drawn on the opening day of the season for seven years so maybe we should expect a result today?
We're also set to get our first glance of the Bluebirds' new away strip today. I understand that Chippenham will wear lime green shirts with black shorts and socks for the first time in their history
So there's around 20 mintues til kick-off in Banbury. It's cold and windy - just what you'd expect for the British summer.
Nathan Rudge is currently giving orders to a host of his team members before he takes his place in the stands.
BANBURY UNITED: Ben McNamara, Luke Cray, Kieran Westwood, Scott Bridges, John Mbamarah, Tom Ryan, Adyinka Talabai, Kyal McNulty, Leon Simpson, Aaron Morgan, Nic Evangelinos.
SUBS: Juliano Menezes, Stephane Kamoagna, Manny Soetan, Ashley Dumbleton, Bernard Nikansah
CHIPPENHAM TOWN TEAN TO PLAY BANBURY UNITED: Ben John, Toby Osman, Jack Allward, Jordan Tillson, Adie Harris, Iain Harvey, Joe McClennan, Harley Purnell, Tom Knighton, Lee Phillips, Mitch Tippins.
SUBS: Alan Griffin, Charlie Austin, Isaac Reid, Joe Tumulty, James Guthrie.
A few technical issues at the printers meant that we've had quite a delay for the team sheets! The standout news is that James Guthrie makes the bench whilst new-signing Mitch Tippins starts. Alan Griffin is also a substitute, with Lee Phillips partnering Tom Knighton up front
We'll bring you today's team news as soon as we have it. Stick with us for all of the action as it happens!
Defender Greg Tindle (pictured below) is suspended whilst Shane Blackmore is also in the stands through injury
As I'm sure you'll already know by now, Chippenham Town U18s manager Nigel Tripp will be directing the Bluebirds from the technical area today as Nathan Rudge and assistant Steve Winter are banned
Alternatively, comment in the box below - please keep your thoughts clean though!
