CHIPPENHAM & DISTRICT SUNDAY LEAGUE DIVISION FOUR: Oakhill make impressive start
4:30pm Monday 2nd September 2013 in Sport
HAVING finished bottom of Division Four last term Chippenham-based Oakhill got off to the best possible start on the opening day of the new campaign thanks to their 7-3 win at Cavalier who, after suffering relegation at the end of last term, know that they will have to play a lot better if they are to have any hopes of making an immediate return to Division Three.
Jordan Tarrant and a Robbie Burton brace put Oakhill 3-1 ahead at the break with Cavalier’s reply coming from Dave Close.
Robbie Burton added two more after the interval to take his tally for the game to four. Tarrant scored his second of the morning and Clint Couzens single made up the seven. A Jayden Brown own goal and a fine finish from Marcus Rossi made up the losers tally.
Bath Road FC 8 The Mallard FC 2
TWO of the division’s newcomers met at Leafy Lane, where Chippenham side Bath Road FC beat The Mallard FC 8-2.
Luke Carrington top scored for the winners with a hat-trick, Matt White scored twice and a goal each for Carl Johnson, Ryan Hopkins and Tim Knight rounded off a good days work for Bath Road.
Liam Spilling and Nick Garbett replied for the Mallard.
Miller Sports B 2 Bremhill View Boys 4
MILLER Sports B kicked of their league adventure by hosting relegated Bremhill View Boys who under new manager Chris Edes claimed a 4-2 success as they bid to get back into Division Three after dropping out of it at the end of last season.
Goal from Billy Gleed and Stuart Windsor put Bremhill two goals to the good at half time. Dave Jenkisn reduced the arrears for the Miller Boy’s only for Matt Davies to put Bremhill two clear for a second time.
Bremhill saw their advantage halved when substitute Paul Chick netted a second for Miller, but once again any hopes of a comeback were ended when a second from Stuart Windsor sealed victory for the Calne based Bremhill side.
MATCHES OFF: Melksham Forest Community Centre v Cross Keys Rowde; Trowbridge Rangers (Sunday) v White Horse (Sunday) B.
