FOOTBALL: Graham relinquishes Frome Town hotseat
FROME Town have parted company with manager Derek Graham, it was announced tonight.
Graham will step aside from his role with immediate effect, although the Aldersmith Stadium club have stressed they are keen to see him remain with them in some capacity.
A club statement said: "Performances haven’t been as expected during this campaign and it was decided today that a change was needed.''
Chairman Jeremy Alderman said: “Everybody knows how much the club means to Derek and vice versa as he has done so much for Frome Town and, as difficult the discussions were, we hope to be able to sit down with him over the coming weeks to discuss a new role as we really want to keep him involved for years to come”.
Long-serving coach Lloyd Chamberlain will take interim charge, starting with Tuesday’s Somerset Premier Cup game at Street and will remain in control until a new appointment is made, with the club hoping to find their new man as quickly as possible.
Graham was handed the reins in a permanent capacity in April after taking caretaker charge following the departure of Darren Perrin, under whom he served as assistant and guided the Robins to league safety.
He was initially handed the job until the end of last season, but the Robins subsequently halted their search for a new permanent boss to give the not to the former Westbury and Warminster chief.
Graham leaves with Frome in 20th position in the Calor League Southern Premier Division after just two wins in nine games and none at home. They won their last match 2-0 at Truro City on Tuesday, although Graham missed that encounter with Chamberlain taking charge.
The club are inviting applications for the vacant position and those interested in applying should email email@example.com or write to: Ian Pearce, Club Secretary, Frome Town FC, Berkley Road, Frome, Somerset, BA11 2EH with any correspondence marked as Private & Confidential.
The deadline for any applications has been set as Monday, October 7.
