WESTBURY continued to set the early-season pace after comprehensively disposing of 13-man visitors at White Horse Country Park.

The home side’s back three of Nigel Kershaw, Chris Lanfear and Jack Brooks accounted for 53 of their 78 points as their best start to a campaign for a number of years continued.

Bridport arrived short-handed and were behind just three minutes in, as the ball was moved along the home backline and Brooks scored in the corner.

Repeated offending allowed the visitors a route back into the game until full-back Kershaw outran the defence on 14 minutes and added the conversion.

The march upfield continued as hooker Jamie Comley barged over and Kershaw converted before Bridport scored a converted effort five minutes later.

The hosts continued to throw the ball wide and fly-half Koro Sitiveni set up wing Lanfear to go under the posts, Brooks converting.

Westbury’s offending proved costly as Comley was sin-binned but, still holding a man advantage, they scored twice more before half time through Kershaw and Brooks Kershaw converting both.

Lanfear again used his pace out wide to score the first try of the second half under the posts, Kershaw adding the extras.

Openside flanker Andrew Twinney then got in on the act, breaking through midfield defence to go under the posts and Brooks again exploited space out wide to score his third of the game and fourth in only three first XV appearances.

Twinney added his second before Tim Kirk made an arching run around the outside of the defence to score his first try for the club. Kershaw converting.

The afternoon hit a sour note, when Brooks clashed heads with captain Darren Fuller and had to be helped from the field.

Bridport added their second, but Fuller powered over the line to finish the scoring, Kershaw taking his personal points tally to 26 with the conversion.
