WILTSHIRE SUNDAY CUP PREVIEW: Buscots bid for County Cup success
1:00pm Friday 4th October 2013 in Sport
CHIPPENHAM & District League second division table-toppers FC Buscots turn their attentions to the Wiltshire Sunday Cup this coming Sunday as Mark Camacho’s side take on Swindon Sunday League outfit Cleeve Tech.
The formbook would suggest a win for Buscots but with the visitors to Nurstead Road being an unknown quantity, the game could prove difficult for the hosts who will hope that they can progress to the second round for the first-ever time.
Fortune Inn visit Swindon League second division side AC Swindon.
Budge Hylands' side haven’t had the best of times this term and they may see this game as one that they can win as their hosts have also made a sluggish start.
With four sides already guaranteed a place in the next round due to byes, the league are certain to have a fifth representative in the second round draw as second division GRFC have been paired with top-flight joint-leaders The Castle FC, who should have few problems in making it through.
Castle have won all four of their games to date while GRFC have lost all four of their fixtures.
Calne-based Talbot FC have home advantage for their game with FC St George, who play in the Frome & District League.
Talbot should go into the game brimming with confidence after their excellent 3-2 win over Potterne CFC last weekend and if the hosts can claim a second successive win, it may just give them the fillip that they are after as they look to get their league campaign heading in the right direction.
White Horse (Sunday) FC have celebrated their promotion to Division One by enterting the cup for the first time and the draw has been kind to Clive Black’s side, pairing them with Swindon League Division Six side Marlborough Town Casuals.
At this stage of the competition last term, Chris Cole’s Worton & Cheverell (Sunday) side suffered a 14-0 loss away to Wanborough FC, which they described as a learning curve.
One year on, Cole’s side will find out just exactly what they learned as they host Rudis FC and they will have a good chance of upsetting the Swindon League side.
