1:30pm Monday 21st October 2013 in Sport
WHEN rivals Trowbridge Wanderers Reserves and The Fleece met in early September their fought out an entertaining 1-1 draw, but the reverse fixture at the Beeches saw both sides finish another engaging contest with 10 men.
Dan Thorne saw red for the Fleece and Jack Heard got his marching orders for Wanderers in the final minute of a game that was won 3-1 by Matt Rusling’s Wanderers.
Kye Leather headed in a Will Bayley free kick to give Wanderers the lead on five minutes. Wanderers second came in the 20th minute, Jack Walker cutting in from the left hand side and firing into the bottom corner for 2-0.
Wanderers' third arrived on 60 minutes as Will Bayley was upended by the Fleece keeper and Steve Jackson slotted home the penalty before Thorne replied for the Fleece prior to being sent off, but by then Wanderers had wrapped the points up.
Bradford United Reserves 1 Worton & Cheverell 9
BRADFORD United Reserves may have taken an early lead against Worton & Cheverell but all the goal seemed to do was fire the visitors to Culver Close into action as they came from behind to claim a 9-1 win.
Debutant Tim Bruton put Bradford in front on four minutes, but Tom Mason restored parity in the seventh minute and Worton took the lead on 22 minutes with Adam Bewley scoring the first of a rapid three timer.
His second arrived in the 29th minute and he completed his hat-trick on 37 minutes. Mason’s goal three minutes before the break gave Worton a 5-1 lead at the interval.
The second half saw Ashley Rake add number six in the 53rd minute. Bewley fired home his fourth of the afternoon on 65 minutes, Scott Stroud made it 8-0 in the 70th minute and shortly after Ben Mason completed the scoring the 9 with second of the campaign.
Bratton 1 Trowbridge Town Reserves 10
AFTER suffering defeat in their last three league and cup matches, Dave Jenkins was pleased to see a return to winning ways for his Trowbridge Town Reserves side.
Trowbridge saw Pete Spong’s opener cancelled out by Tim Beecham, but his effort gave Dave Griffin’s side a brief respite as a Neil Gordon own goal saw Trowbridge regain the lead.
Lee Jackson made Bratton pay for missing a few half chances as his effort before the interval set his team up nicely for the second period.
Neil Grant bagged himself a second-half hat trick, Spong scored his second of the game, Harry Waylen, James Dark and Sean O’Brien playing his first game after a knee operation all scored their first goals for the club to make up the 10.
Heytesbury 0 Lacock 2
A 2-0 WIN for Lacock at Heytesbury preserved their unbeaten start to the season.
Lacock, who were made to work hard for their latest win, remain three points clear of the chasing pack.
Both goals coming in the space of a minute in the first half, Simon Gray’s opener was quickly followed by Jake Marshall’s effort.
