BATH Rugby head coach Mike Ford claimed there was plenty more to come from his side after admitting they struggled to truly go through the gears in their Aviva Premiership win away at London Wasps.

Ahead of Bath’s trip to Adams Park, Wasps boasted an unbeaten start to the league season at home, but two Semesa Rokoduguni tries and the boot of George Ford saw the visitors build a 21-0 lead.

And even when Jonah Holmes crossed for his first-ever Aviva Premiership try to give Wasps something to shout about, Matt Garvey ensured Bath had the last laugh as he grabbed his first league score for his new side with just minutes left.

Bath’s 28-5 victory was their biggest ever at Adams Park and lifted them into third spot in the table, though Ford believes they are capable of playing far better.

“I thought we were very professional right up to the very end,” he said.

“The first half I thought they won the breakdown and we couldn’t get anything going but we dominated at the set-piece which is always handy.

“It was good to go 11-0 up and it was important then to win the second half, not necessarily on the scoreboard but not letting them back in it.

“They did miss a few kicks at goal which helped but it was a very professional and clinical performance.”

Next up Bath face a visit from Exeter – live on BT Sport this Saturday afternoon.

Bath United's Aviva A League semi final against Sale Jets at the Rec tonight will be watched by a capacity 6,000 crowd.
