A THREE-GOAL blitz within five first half minutes sent Frome Town on their way to a heavy defeat at the hands of title-chasers Chesham United last weekend.

After a slow start, the match erupted into life in the 15th minute as Chesham carved through the Frome defence, allowing James Potton to shoot low into the far corner.

Just three minutes later the same player made it 2-0 as he produced a stunning dipping volley from outside the area that gave Darren Chitty no chance.

The visitors pressed home their dominance just a minute later as Steve Wales produced a calm finish to make it 3-0 following a flowing move and only Robins keeper Chitty prevented it becoming a rout as he saved a penalty from Wales after Matt Cowler had fouled inside the area.

Brian O'Donnell's men did have something to shout about two minutes before the break as Ben Wood out-paced three defenders to score a fine individual goal.

Frome improved in the second period but Chesham rode out the storm before scoring again in the 79th minute, with the league's top-scorer Drew Roberts breaking before finding the net.

O'Donnell's side face another tough task on Tuesday evening when they travel to StourbridGe.
