BATH versus Harlequins is always a monster game, but you get the feeling that the home side might be doing a bit of a rain dance ahead of tomorrow’s Aviva Premiership meeting at the Rec.

It’s a meeting of two contrasting styles, but at the end of the day, it’s not really about how they get a result, but that they do get that result.

Quins like to chuck the ball about a bit and force the pace of a game but for Bath, I view the game as very similar to the one against Gloucester earlier in the season.

It’s about playing to where your strengths are – and for Bath that is through a dominant pack and front five.

Quins had a couple of wobbles earlier in the season but they come into it off the back of two excellent results against France’s Racing Metro in the Heineken Cup.

I don’t want to put the jinx on them, but I believe Bath stand a very good chance of winning this game.

A result that really caught the eye last weekend was Northampton’s result in beating Leinster in Dublin.

It was a result that tells you all you need to know about the Saints, especially after they had been hammered by the Irish side at home the previous week.

They will have taken a massive step with that result and it’s one they can revisit time and again.

We’re still waiting to see who will make the quarter finals of this year’s competition, but what is clear is that there is all to play for.

Who knows what will happen with this competition next season, as it seems as though the English clubs will be pulling out.

It’s the state of the Welsh game that worries me.

Neither the Welsh Rugby Union or their regions seem to be in a great position financially and I just don’t know what the answer is for them at this stage.
