CLARRIE Dunbar men moved clear at the top of the Somerset County League Division One with a comprehensive 96-43 win over Donyatt on Sunday.

They won on all four rinks in a 53-shot win to claim a maximum 16 points and go seven points clear of second placed North Petherton and 17 clear of Taunton Deane.

In the third match of the season last Sunday Clarrie dominated on all four rinks, the home rinks skipped by Colin Easton and Alan Totterdell winning by 12 and 10 shots respectivel.

At Donyatt , Keith Bailey’s four won by 19 while Fred Pope’s rink followed with a 12 shot advantage.

Home - Rink 1: Keith Haines, Mick Maslen, John Smith & Colin Easton beat D Bassett 23-11. Rink 2: Norman Guffick, Peter Hooley, Francis Parker & Alan Totterdell beat P Denslow 21-11.

Away - Rink 1: John Jones, David Pitcher, Brian Hawkins & Keith Bailey beat E Wiseman 30-11. Rink 2: Paul Hewitt, Russell Milne, Graham Jones & Fred Pope beat J Hill 22-10.

Score: Clarrie Dunbar 96 (16pts) Donyatt 43 (0pts).

KIM Smith's rink are the only combination from Clarrie Dunbar still running in the ladies national championship competitions.

The quartet of Debbie Shadwell, Ann Jones, Jeanette Wheeler and Smith are through to the fours semi-finals in Area 30 and are due to face at home Alex Jacobs’ foursome from North Wilts on January 4.

Clarrie still have an interest in both the national mixed pairs and fours championship events and have home advantage in both.

Smith and Andy Colebrooke are due to face Sue Cooke and Wayne Snook (North Wilts) at Standerwick on December 27 while Debbie Shadwell, Kim Smith, Russell Francis and Andy Colebrooke meet Steve Snook’s foursome from North Wilts in the Area 30 mixed fours final at Clarrie Dunbar on January 3.
