BRADFORD on Avon produced a solid second-half effort to maintain their push for honours in Dorset & Wilts One North.
Having not played for a month the visitors were understandably rusty in the early stages as Down defied both the slope and the sun to take an early lead with a try.
Dan Bright, playing at inside centre, got Bradford on the board with a penalty.
The away side were much improved after the break, despite playing up the slope.
Bright kicked a second penalty to nudge his side in front and then scored a try, after being set up by Charlie Holton, and added the conversion.
A further Bright penalty put the game beyond Combe Down, despite them scoring with the final play of the match.
