CHIPPENHAM Town chief Mark Collier insists revenge will not be on his mind when he side lock horns with Weymouth at Hardenhuish Park this weekend.

The Bluebirds slipped to a disappointing defeat to the Terras in Dorset last November, with Collier’s men going down 4-1 in only the Chippenham manager’s fourth game in charge.

But the Bluebirds boss says that bouncing back from last week’s home 1-0 reverse at the hands of Arlesey Town will be the sole priority for his team on Saturday.

“We’re not really thinking about revenge because the only thing that’s important to us is getting a win on Saturday,” said Collier.

“The defeat at Weymouth was one of our poorest performances – we started well but then were second best for 70 minutes of the game and made a lot of mistakes defensively.

“Weymouth are a big non-league club and they’ll be coming to Chippenham Town thinking they can get all three points. It’s up to us to make sure that doesn’t happen.

“We’re well aware of the position we find ourselves in but we are going through a period of transition.

“We want to start picking up some wins and moving up the table, and I’m comfortable that we will do that.”

Chippenham were without a game last weekend and Tuesday night’s rearranged trip to Hungerford Town will now take place on March 18 due to the Berkshire outfit’s Red Insure Cup commitments.

Collier said: “Having another break is a bit of a shame because it stops you building up any momentum.

“But we’re not alone in that and I’m sure that it won’t be long until the games are coming thick and fast.”

Bluebirds striker Tom Knighton left to join Bridgwater Town last week but Collier is satisfied with his attacking options.

“Ideally, we want four strikers competing for two positions but it’s not just a numbers game – we’re looking for quality not quantity,” said Collier.

“We’ve got a number of options and Joe McClennan can also play in behind the strikers too.

“We’re probably looking at potential signings for other positions, especially because strikers at this level cost the most money.”

Injured midfielder Iain Harvey will miss this weekend’s clash with Weymouth.
