TRAINER Neil Mulholland is aiming to turn his Conkwell Grange Stables, near Winsley, into a West Wiltshire powerhouse.

The 33-year-old former jockey celebrates his two-year anniversary at the base this June and is already celebrating a successful start to the New Year.

Mulholland-trained duo Hopatina and Primacy got the year off to the best possible start with victories at Southwell and Wolverhampton respectively on January 6 before the Irishman was celebrating a double victory the next day, with Mr Burbidge and Pass The Time triumphing on the flat at Southwell.

Midnight Sequel notched up another victory at Kempton on January 15 and the Wiltshire-based trainer is hoping that there is a lot more success coming his way.

“I’ve been a trainer for five years and we’ll have been here two years in June,” said Mulholland.

“I was based down off junction 27 of the M5, near Wellington in Somerset, but we needed to find some bigger facilities.

“Conkwell is a great place to be based, especially since a lot of my owners live nearby. We’ve even got a few horses that are owned by Mick Burbidge, who is from Winsley.

“As time goes on, we want to get more and more local people involved because we offer ownership from £150 a month, all the way to full training fees.

“It’s been a great start to the year on the track and I’ve had a lot of runners do well, so hopefully that continues.”
